FORT WAYNE, Ind. (December 28, 2007) - - Dana Corporation is focused on worker recruitment training at its manufacturing facility located at 2100 West State Boulevard in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  The plant currently employs 670 individuals - 400 in the machining and light assembly of light axle components with the balance supporting production in administrative, engineering and management capacities.

"We are pleased to have a new four-year contract with the United Steelworkers and preferred supplier status for "Future- Opportunity Work" coming into North America," said Dennis McCarthy, plant manager.  "At the same time, we are starting to experience tremendous turnover as our experienced workers retire.  We're grateful to the Fort Wayne community for the many ways it is helping us train workers new to our organization."

The City of Fort Wayne has committed to a performance-based, multi-year grant of $300,000 total ($75,000 per year from 2008 through 2011) to assist Dana with the development of critical training manuals and other processes and procedures to help orient new workers at the plant and keep the skills of the current workers up-to-date.  In addition, representatives of WorkOne Northeast and the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce are working cooperatively to help document necessary skills and recruit, screen and train both prospective and incumbent employees.  Additional assistance could come from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.  The Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance is coordinating the work of the economic and workforce development partners.

"The Dana plant on State Boulevard has been a fixture in our community for decades", stated Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richard.  "We are proud to be working with management and labor representatives to help ensure current skills across existing workers at the plant, while at the same time doing everything we can to see that new workers get the best possible start at the facility."

Individuals interested in seeking positions at Dana's Fort Wayne facility are encouraged to contact Human Resource Business Partner Mike Esselburn or the Human Resources Department by calling 260-481-3016.  Individuals may also go online at http://www.dana.com to learn more about future job opportunities at the Fort Wayne facility.
